Animated Particle Resolution

Is there any way to increase the resolution of the spheres when creating and animating 'Animated Particles'? I am creating a high resolution movie and the pixelated edges on the spheres are really taking away from the visual appeal. I've tried using very small particles, but the particles passing near the camera still look awful.
