Dear All,
I want to export a Tetragrid file into Abaqus for FEM calculation. I used an Avizo example file, motor.tetragrid.am (since none of mine was successful). In the available options, I can only save with AVS UCD to get *.inp. I saved the file as motor_tetragrid_binary.inp file (later as ascii).
Upon importing the model, the Abaqus viewer is blank. I get this message:
The model "motor_tetragrid_binary" has been created.
WARNING: Empty part PART-1. This occurred while reading keyword options within part definition.
WARNING: Part instance PART-1-1 references an empty part. A new part named PART-1-1 will be created from the mesh data in part instance PART-1-1.
WARNING: Empty part instance PART-1-1. This occurred while processing part PART-1. Neither the original part nor the part instance PART-1-1 contain mesh data.
The model "motor_tetragrid_binary" has been imported from an input file.
How can I get the Avizo tetragrid file into Abaqus for FEM analysis?
Many thanks.

Hi Yaks,
There may be some confusion because the filename extension ".inp" is the same for AVS and Abaqus files. For exporting grids as a Abaqus .inp files, when you "Save Data As..." , you need to select "ABAQUS Input (.inp)" as file type, instead of "AVS UCD".
This option requires an Avizo Wind license, otherwise you can only save AVS .inp .
Daniel
PS. Your message will be moved later in Avizo main forum threads, more appropriate.
There is actually a related question http://www.mc3dviz.com/avizo-forum/showthread.php?t=186&highlight=abaqus

Hello Daniel,
Thank you very much for the clarification. It's good to know that am not doing anything wrongly except that I don't have the required license.
Thanks,
Yakub
